Champai Soren Resigns As Chief Minister

Hemant Soren takes over as Jharkhand's twelfth Chief Minister

Ranchi, July 3 (IANS): Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren was elected as the new leader of the party on Wednesday. He succeeds his father, Shibu Soren, who had resigned from the post earlier this week.

Hemant Soren, 48, is a former Chief Minister of Jharkhand. He was first elected to the state assembly in 2005. He has also served as the Union Minister of State for Rural Development.

The JMM is the largest party in the ruling coalition in Jharkhand. The other major parties in the coalition are the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

Hemant Soren's election as the new leader of the JMM is expected to further strengthen the ruling coalition in Jharkhand. The coalition has been facing some challenges in recent months, including the resignation of Shibu Soren as Chief Minister. However, Hemant Soren's leadership is expected to help the coalition overcome these challenges.
