Brazils Right Wing Congress May Not Back Lulas Policies

Brazil's right-wing Congress may not back Lula's policies

President Luiz InĂ¡cio Lula da Silva's plans could be blocked by opposition legislators

The Brazilian Congress is controlled by right-wing legislators who may not support President Lula's agenda

Brazilian President Luiz InĂ¡cio Lula da Silva's plans to increase social spending and raise taxes on the wealthy could be blocked by right-wing legislators in Congress.

Lula, a leftist who was elected in October, has proposed a number of ambitious policies, including a 10% increase in the minimum wage, a new tax on large fortunes, and increased spending on education and healthcare.

However, the Brazilian Congress is controlled by right-wing legislators who may not support Lula's agenda. The largest party in Congress, the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB), is a center-right party that has traditionally opposed Lula's left-wing policies.

If Lula is unable to get his agenda passed through Congress, it would be a major setback for his presidency. Lula has promised to lift millions of Brazilians out of poverty and reduce inequality, but he will need the support of Congress to achieve his goals.
